inlingua celebrates its 50th anniversary
50 years ago German entrepreneur Adalbert Schwarz laid the foundation of a company that counts today as one of the largest language service providers in the world: inlingua. This success is not only due to its structure: the licensed language centers operate with clear quality standards, and thanks to their legal independence can adapt and optimize services to meet local needs.
Thanks to a proven methodology and the courage to adapt and innovate, inlingua is well equipped to continue to set standards for high-quality language instructions into the future.
The global network of inlingua
inlingua can rely on a worldwide network of independent licensees. These partners support the corporate image and coordinate local, national and international language training initiatives. Today, inlingua is represented by over 200 language centers in more than 30 countries all over the world.
New technologies – new challenges
New developments in technology and educational methods demand action. The inlingua method and materials are constantly adapted and renewed. In 2006, inlingua successfully launched a blended learning tool called “inlingua Online Learning”. The tool combines the benefits of both classroom teaching and individual training on the computer and blends the two approaches.
A rising demand: Business English
In the early 1980s, the need for business English grew. Recognizing the need for action, inlingua started working on special training material and produced a highly focused Business English line – the first business language program by an international language organization.
Expansion to a worldwide institution
The inlingua founders were experienced language-center owners who felt the need for an international network. They declared that the international centers would share a common method and materials. The idea of diverse international centers with a common method was extraordinarily successful. Only a few years later, inlingua consisted of nearly 100 centers in Europe. The innovative language school also published training materials in six languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Since then, inlingua has expanded to numerous countries spanning four more continents.
The very beginning
Did you know that inlingua is one of the oldest global language specialist? The renowned language company was established in Bern, Switzerland, in 1968. The passion of the founders together with the creation of the inlingua method fueled the success of the new enterprise.
